The Masquerade Affair: A USC End of the Year Powerhouse Production (18+)There's been much hullabaloo at USC, on the Row and on campus, ever since Powerhouse Greeks launched The Masquerade Affair: A USC End of the Year Powerhouse Production a week ago. With almost 1,000 attending and counting in that short span, The Masquerade Affair seems to hit a major home run as the USC End of the Year Party to go to.

Powerhouse is up to their usual tricks with a "Secret Venue", and if you went to their last party (The Haunted Row) you found yourself in an insane megaclub that seemed out of this world. Based on their recent history, it seems sound to expect a similar, extravagant venue this time around from the USC alum run events company.

6 DJs will play the party representing various houses on The Row from Lambda and Phi Psi to AEPi and Pike, and if you're friends with any you'll get to see Russell Paulson, Mick Rasmussen, Justin Jay (who is actually playing at HARD Summer this year), Brendan Ray, Drew Heller and Joe Bolognese.

Expect to find a main room dubbed, "The Affair", set to feature a complete audio-visual experience, lighting and special effects. Somewhere in the venue you'll find a second room "The Curtain", a VIP 21+ room designed to be completely mysterious. Rumors say there may be 3 floors and some additional rooms, although if true they are being kept under secret.

But the added treat to this party might be that free with your ticket every student gets a masquerade mask. The masks are truly gorgeous, containing feathers and trim, and stunning high quality details. They're pretty exciting to look at and Powerhouse seems to be going the extra step to ensure that the end of the year is truly a masquerade. It's exciting to think about, and I think you can expect a sleek & sexy vibe to this party, with a splash of mystery in the air. And I like free stuff, it makes you wonder why someone hasn't done this before.

If you want more info or tickets there are house reps you can contact, or you can also find all you need here.

The Haunted Row Turns Out Largest USC Party in Recent History

The Haunted Row Halloween party on Tuesday, Oct 30th produced a party unlike anything that most USC students have ever seen. 2,000 USC students. That is not a typo. It was essentially a mega USC registered party at a real venue. The size, production, and creative elements of this party rivaled something that you would see on the E! channel. Students flocked to the party, many in witty and unique outfits, the sheer size making it one of those parties you look back and remember forever. I would go as far to say that on the epic scale, The Haunted Row scored a 14 out of 10. It was truly epic.

The Haunted Row

Produced by USC alumni & student run events company Powerhouse Greeks a.k.a. Powerhouse Entertainment, students were bused to an undisclosed megaclub described only as "secret venue", (I'm still not sure exactly where we were but it was huge and awesome). From there, meticulous details hit you from every direction. A ten foot man roamed the party interacting with guests. (He was a stiltwalker, but he pulled off being ten feet pretty convincinly). Go-go dancers danced in tiny platforms towering above the dance floor. Guests danced on the stage, by the DJs, on VIP tables and even in the platforms when the go-go dancers weren't around.

Every corner uncovered more and more details. An open-air patio Gameday themed room featured beer pong games and kegs, and was decked out in cardinal & gold USC colors. Mini footballs littered the room and USC flags hung from the walls.

The Haunted Row

A 9-0 themed room saw Big Sean greeting guests at the door! (For non-9-0 goers Big Sean actually does the door at the real 9-0). Inside the 9-0 room felt like a VIP private party, EVERYONE dancing like they knew how to do nothing else, with huge smiles across their faces. There was an aura about, almost like walking into the 9-0 room created some sort of insta-happiness.

Creative Costume at The Haunted Row

7 DJs played music to please all, ranging from electro to hip-hop and a cool mashup here and there. See below for a video recap the party. Photos from The Haunted Row are available in the Albums section of the Powerhouse Greeks facebook page.

All in all, The Haunted Row was a resounding success. Interviews with Powerhouse owners Femi Oniya and Logan Gaudreau suggest the party may become a yearly event. Asked if anything else would be in the works for the near future, Femi & Logan say to possibly expect another crazy themed party for next spring. It would be great to see more of their creative events come to fruition, and I'm sure I speak for many when I say I hope Powerhouse continues to throw these parties.

The Haunted Row

Construction is underway for Powerhouse Entertainment's Haunted Row Halloween Party, and with the night quickly approaching, the venue is being transformed into a haunted playground for the spirits of Troy. With Greek Life, Game Day, and the 9-0 being such integral parts of USC life, the venue’s three levels will allow everyone to experience and enjoy them all in one nightclub.

On the floor level we will have the “Haunted Row”, which will be home to all of the different fraternities making it easy to go from house to house and celebrate with all your favorite Greeks. With giant flying monsters over the bar, severed heads hanging from the crystal walls, and skeletons and spiders galore, this section is sure to deliver some Halloween fright.

The underground level will cater to the 9-0 blackout party. This section will be adorned with black lights, a VIP section, and custom 9-0 drinks. So get ready to highlight some White T's and party with Big Sean! (Yes he will actually be there doing the door).

From the 9-0 to Game Day, the venue’s upper level patio will house everything that you’ll find at a USC tailgate. With kegs, grass, red cups, jerseys, and beer pong tables lining the patio, this room will bring all the essential elements of a tailgate party into one area.

The secret venue is a perfect location for a Halloween Party, from its black and silver theme, to its red-lit hallways and crystal chandeliers. It brings forth elements of old Hollywood glamour with a modern yet Victorian twist. With three levels each filled with spooky decorations, candy, and USC themes, it will no doubt bring out your Halloween spirit. So wear your best costume and get ready to experience The Haunted Row!
